All future updates will now be Patreon exclusive
In light of recent trolling events, I'm finally going to implement something that's been on my mind for a long time -- Reanimated Heart updates will now be Patreon exclusive.
Why pivot in this direction?
Quite frankly, the game is becoming a net loss to me, even though production hasn't slowed. It has been consuming my time, effort, and mental space every month without much returns. I have made the least money I've ever had last year, and even when I made a profit, the money immediately went to paying off music, art, and talent.
Didn't you say you'll only switch to Patreon only after Chapter 1 is finished?
That was the idea, but that concept was founded on the conceit that it will be better for marketing. The rate at which it advertises for itself has significantly plateaued, but what has risen are the increased number of spam, trolls, and entitled comments on the Itch page for a free game.
And I'll be honest, those types of "fans" are beginning to grate on me. I do not enjoy being insulted unprovoked for something that I'm sharing for free.
Besides, I think 80,000 words is enough public content to justify moving this to Patreon.
Will you ever release Chapter 1 in full in public?
Maybe someday when it's done, but don't expect it.

To Conclude...
This has been a move that was a long time coming. I used to believe that any meaningful art is worth sharing and being accessed for free, but some of you people are legitimately malicious, so I'm going to be choosing my peace and only share things to people who, literally, put their money where their mouth is.

If there aren’t any more demo updates in the future then I’m afraid this may harm your business more than anything. Since it’s still a prototype/playtest that will take a long time to complete, it won’t gain much traction. I recommend rather than a monthly subscription, try tips instead where people can pay you if they want to support the in development process. you’ll make $$ when the game fully releases but a monthly subscription to see small updates? It’s iffy. Probably won’t do well in the long run. Try ko-fi.

I already have a ko-fi and that makes even less than Patreon. People just have no incentive to tip it randomly.
I'm not relying on Game Dev to be my main source of income anyway, I just don't want it to be a net loss. This is a hobby at the end of the day. The funds are just there so I can do it more consistently instead of sporadically and to up the overall quality.
If the project flops and cannot be sustained with other means, I'll probably just drop it.

I completely understand. The amount of effort put into this game is definitely not to be taken for granted. And keeping yourself open to nasty comments is not something you ought need to do.

Some countries are blocked by payment systems. Steam and GOG are the only way to buy games for us. However, developers suffer from this more than we do. Well, then, see you on Steam at the end of the road.
You do know that it costs money to sell on Steam, right? Money that needs to come from somewhere. Therefore, having some form of income from somewhere like Patreon is necessary in order to list on Steam in the first place.

I know that. Although the logistics of the sale is not the buyer's problem. And did you know that in order to support developers on Patreon, we also have to make transfers through systems that block us? And what's more, Patreon itself is officially banned in a number of countries? It's simply illegal for us to use it. So I honestly say that I can only buy a finished product on Steam. At the same time, the developer can open early access to Steam for such buyers. This is one of the few games that I am ready to buy unfinished.

dude 60 to 75 is not worth this game. there's games with triple the content triple the gameplay and triple everything that cost that and sometimes half that this guy is just being stupid if he actually puts it at 60 to 75
